 | Qatar and Lithuania to Sign Economic Agreements  |  |

(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite said Sunday that her country will sign a number of important economic agreements with the State of Qatar.
Speaking exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Lithuanian President said her country was keen to bolster bilateral relations with Qatar, in light of the Gulf country's developmental renaissance that had taken place in the past few years.
The Lithuanian President added that that the impression she got from her visit, which will end tomorrow, was "very good". She said that her country was looking to enhance cooperation with any country that witnessed significant development. She added that the State of Qatar was under that category.
Grybauskaite said that the two governments will sign a range of agreements including tax duplication, protecting investments as well as an agreement on bilateral general economic cooperation. She stressed that those agreements will push forward bilateral economic relations.
Grybauskaite said that Lithuania was looking at diversifying the fields of bilateral cooperation with the State of Qatar. One of those aspects, was importing Qatar's LNG, the Lithuanian President said.
She said that Qatar was interested in cooperation with Lithuania in the field of renewable energy as Lithuania is famous for producing batteries that is charged by solar energy.
Grybauskaite said that there could be cooperation in the field of scientific research in the near future, particularly relating to technology and sustainable energy.
In response to a question on the timing of her visit to Qatar, the Lithuanian President said that the visit coincided with the 20th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between both countries, expressing her hope that the future will see more opportunities for bilateral cooperation at the political and economic levels.
She said that the latter was one of the main goals of her visit, although the focus was more on the field of energy and LNG. She also noted that Qatar was famous for its international role of providing the international community with its LNG needs.
