Securitymen carry the body of the deceased out of the motel.
(MENAFN - Arab Times) An Egyptian expatriate was found dead in a local motel in Sharq Monday. Security personnel referred the body to the forensics department to determine the cause of death.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim died as a result of drug overdose but there is suspicion of homicide due to a blunt-force trauma to the head.
The victim was accompanied by a compatriot the night before.
A person, who identified himself as the manager of the motel but refused to give his name, said he could not comment on the incident except to say "there was a row between two persons".
According to a security source, another Egyptian expatriate had earlier arrived at the motel to inquire about his deceased friend. The staff informed him the victim was in his room, but the expatriate insisted he had an appointment with the victim but he does not answer his calls.
The staff quickly went to the flat and found the victim lying motionless on the ground.
Security personnel and paramedics arrived at the scene and determined that the Egyptian had died. The source further noted that staff members confirmed to investigators that an unknown compatriot friend was staying with him, but left after informing the staff the victim was sleeping. The friend never returned.
The source added that preliminary investigations indicate the victim died due to drug overdose. He said a case had been registered to find the unknown friend and was referred to the capital's investigations unit.
