American Airlines to slash additional 1,200 jobs

(MENAFN) American Airlines said that it would slash another 1,200 nonunion jobs in order to reduce costs, reported AP.

The carrier added that the move brings the total number of job reductions to 14,200.

It also said that it will shut a reservations call center in Tucson, Ariz., and lounges at Washington's Dulles Airport and Kansas City International Airport.

Moreover, the company's changes for agents and similar workers are forecasted to save USD95 million, matching the 20 percent cost-slashing targets for all other labor groups.

It is worth noting that in February, American announced that it plans to eliminate 13,000 union pilots, flight attendants and ground workers.
