Iran stops oil sales to Greece

(MENAFN) Iran's Oil Minister, Rostam Qasemi, said that Tehran halted crude shipments to Greece due to the Western sanctions imposed on the country's oil industry, reported Tehran Times. Qasemi added that following the EU decision to impose an embargo on Iranian oil imports, his country stopped oil exports to France and the UK. He also said that EU sanctions will be effective on July 1, 2012, in order to give member states the needed time to adjust to the new conditions and find alternative crude oil supplies. It is worth noting that as Hellenic Petroleum and Motor Oil Hellas failed to pay for their crude imports from Iran, the country stopped oil sales to the two Greek companies.
