Jordan- Eight Egyptian workers arrested as protest turns violent

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Police on Monday arrested eight Egyptian labourers after a protest in front of their country's embassy in Amman turned violent, according to the Public Security Department (PSD). PSD Spokesperson Lt. Col. Mohammad Khatib said dozens of Egyptian guest workers who were protesting against the Labour Law clashed with the security forces, adding that the labourers did not inform the PSD of their intention to stage a sit-in. The protesters started throwing stones at their embassy, so Gendarmerie forces rushed to the scene, Khatib told The Jordan Times over the phone. The PSD spokesperson also said that the Egyptians then started throwing stones at police vehicles and Gendarmerie personnel, causing "slight injuries to some of them".
