Reportedly, the group comprises of eight Serbian members, out of which two were arrested with nine kilograms of gold while the other six members escaped with 20 kilograms of gold.
When the Operations Room at Ministry of Interior last week received information about the jewelry store robbery, they had immediately dispatched securitymen who rushed to the store to find that three people were assaulted during the robbery and were tied together with the security man of the store.
Using the images captured by the cameras at the store, roads and airport, the securitymen followed up with the case to arrest two Serbian suspects at the airport carrying nine kilograms of the stolen gold. During interrogation, they admitted that they were involved in the robbery along with six others who already left the country with 20 kilograms of the stolen gold.
The suspects said they arrived in Kuwait through a commercial visa provided by one of the hotels and that they belong to a 'mafia' gang.
Sources said the securitymen will continue interrogations with the arrested suspects to obtain more information about the gang. Investigations are being carried out to arrest the remaining suspects with assistance from the Interpol.
