Amman, April 2012 - Corresponding with its continuous efforts to support sporting events across the Kingdom and as part of its unwavering belonging to sports and the community, Umniah participated in the 19th International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon (DSUM). The Marathon, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Firas Bin Zeid and organized by the Neurological Society, took place on Friday 6th April, 2012. As part of its participation, a group of Umniah employees took part in the Marathon, which comprised a 4km, 10km, 20km, 42km and a 50km route.
"Our participation in the world-renowned 19th International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon emphasizes our interest in supporting community initiatives, particularly in the areas of sports and youth. We would also like to thank the Neurological Society, which Umniah is a major supporter of, for their continuous and invaluable efforts in organizing sporting events that promote and encourage exercise, whilst also advocating for humanitarian causes," commented Umniah's CEO Ihab Hinnawi.
In turn, Umniah's Director of HR and Corporate Affairs Sami Jarrar, "The International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon is a major sporting event with humanitarian and community elements and a large number of companies and individuals eagerly strive to participate in supporting it. In this context, we at Umniah encourage our employees to participate in sporting activities that promote team spirit and contribute to developing the local community."
The Dead Sea Ultra Marathon's full proceeds will be donated to the Neurological Society to cover the surgery costs of a number of patients with neurological disorders.
