Kuwaiti accused of burning Iranian flag freed after week 

(MENAFN - Arab Times) The Public Prosecution released Nahar Al-Hajri after detaining him for one week for allegedly burning the Iranian flag.

The release order was issued on personal guarantee despite the 21-day provisional detention directive issued prior to the investigation.

Speaking to reporters after the release of his client, Attorney Hamoud Al-Hajri said he considers the move a rectification of the faulty process and abusive acts against the accused. He pointed out the detention order was against the law and penal regulations, asserting the testimonies do not indicate any criminal act.

Meanwhile, Ali Al-Harbi who is in detention in Iraq will be returning to Kuwait over the next few days, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting Foreign Ministry sources.

The sources said the release of Al-Harbi was delayed due to bureaucracy and security conditions during the just concluded Arab League summit in Baghdad.

The sources added the release of Al-Harbi has been expedited and that his case is being closely followed by Kuwait's Ambassador to Iraq Ali Al-Momen.

It has been reported both sides are cooperating on the release of Al-Harbi in accordance with an agreement reached with Nouri Al-Maliki during his visit to Kuwait.
