(MENAFN Press) The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is joining forces with United Technologies Corporation (UTC) to provide HCT students with new opportunities to develop their skills and careers in the local manufacturing sectors.
Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology and Dr. J. Michael McQuade, Senior Vice President of Science & Technology at UTC, recently signed an agreement establishing a dedicated UTC Training Center at HCT to focus on developing manufacturing-oriented career skills.
Under the agreement, UTC and HCT will also collaborate on training HCT faculty in UTC's Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) operating system, which will ultimately lead to the creation of an ACE curriculum at HCT. The parties will cooperate on delivering UTC courses in Leadership Development, Program Management, and Sustainability Awareness to HCT faculty and students.
Dr. Tayeb Kamali said the innovative UTC Training Center would assist students in honing their employment skills and provide faculty with additional training opportunities.
"The Higher Colleges of Technology is proud to provide cutting-edge and student-centered education practices, such as this center, to prepare its graduates for demanding careers in this increasingly globalised economy," Dr. Kamali said. "With this partnership we are developing graduates with the knowledge, skills and confidence to contribute effectively for the 21st Century and to reach their full potential."
"This partnership strengthens UTC's long-standing relationship with HCT," said Louis Chnevert, UTC Chairman & Chief Executive Officer. "The Gulf region is important to UTC's future growth. Through this partnership, UTC gains better access to the region's best talent to help fuel our growth agenda."
As part of the agreement, UTC becomes a founding member of the HCT Foundation's HCT 100, a group of top business partners contributing to development of the UAE's workforce. UTC and the HCT Foundation also will explore other opportunities for collaboration, such as possible internships for HCT faculty and students, and tours of UTC facilities to familiarize HCT students with employment opportunities in those businesses.
