(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait will be hosting the 13th International Energy Forum (IEF) on March 12-14 under the patronage of the Kuwaiti leadership, said a statement by the Ministry of Oil here Sunday.
The Ministry said an exclusive press release to KUNA that the meeting would be the first ministerial meeting for oil after issuing the IEF charter, signed by 87 countries in the forum's last meeting in February.
Committees were assigned by the Ministry and other institutes to organized the event, said the statement.
The IEF is the world's largest recurring gathering of energy ministers. It is unique in that participants not only include IEA and OPEC countries, but also key international actors such as Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Russia, and South Africa.
The IEF countries account for more than 90 percent of global oil and gas supply and demand. The IEF is promoted by a permanent Secretariat based in the Diplomatic Quarter of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
