(MENAFN - Arab News) The soft opening of Oman Air's new state-of-art "Emergency Response Center" (ERC) was held recently.
This center, located at the Oman Air headquarters is equipped with top-notch emergency response functions related to airline emergency management.
The senior management meeting room at this center is geared with IT facilities and visual aids, including an interactive smart-board, projectors and televisions.
A total of 17 senior management members can be seated for briefings at the ERC room.
Two adjoining rooms are designated as "Emergency Response Center Support" (ERCS), geared with office setup for up to 15 management and staff members to coordinate and support function of ERC.
In addition, the Emergency Response (ER) volunteer briefing room at this center can accommodate up to 50 volunteers.
This center also has a storage facility for Go-Kit, which include emergency supplies and equipment ready for dispatch to a location in need of emergency aid.
Oman Air CEO Peter Hill said: "Although an emergency center was available for use in our company previously, we would all agree - a modern high-end center of this nature is of paramount importance for a rapidly growing airline like Oman Air."
Philippe Georgiou, chief officer corporate affairs, added: "With the expansion of Oman Air's frontline, the back-office capability enhancement is of highest importance; and the new ERC is one of our great achievements in this approach".
Hill also presented letters of commendation to staff involved in the completion of this center.
Himali Setunge, manager emergency response and planning, said: "We are very fortunate to be backed by a team of very motivated and dedicated colleagues, who are acquainted with their profession and are result oriented."
