Qatari- Moroccan Joint Business Council Meets


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Qatari- Moroccan Joint Business Council on Sunday held a meeting at the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (QCCI) headquarters in Doha. The meeting, which was chaired on the Qatari side by Eng. Nasser Al Meer, Member of QCCI Board of Directors and by the Director General of Morocco's state fund (CDG, Caisse de Depot et de Gestion), Anass Alami on the Moroccan side, discussed the ways of promoting trade relations and investments. The meeting was meant to reinforce partnership and collaboration between Qatari and Moroccan businessmen and encourage promising investment opportunities, said Eng. Al Meer. A delegation of Qatari businessmen is scheduled to visit Morocco shortly to study trade and investment opportunities in addition to discussing the establishment of further projects between the two sides, added Eng. Al Meer. For his part, the Moroccan CDG Director General praised the economic growth in Qatar, calling for further promotion of bilateral business partnerships between the two sides. He also underlined the importance of regional economic blocs and free trade, stressing the need to focus on increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, where it is still below the aspirations. Moroccan exports to Qatar totaled USD 6 million, the Qatari exports to Morocco are nearly USD 26 million while Qatar's private sector investments in Morocco is about USD 25 / million, he explained. The Qatari- Moroccan Joint Business Council aims to build bridges of communication between the two sides and the establishment of joint projects in several sectors including the food industries; the industrial, financial, banking and insurance sectors besides tourism, real estate and pharmaceutical industry, added Alami. He called for establishing a joint investment holding company and activating the Qatari-Moroccan Joint Business Council to strengthen partnership initiative.
