(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) The Ambassadors of Excellence, who have been honoured by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and selected as winners of Dubai Government Excellence Programme, left for the US on a tour to familiarise themselves with the federal and local government systems and the best practices.
The tour aims at briefing the Ambassadors of Excellence on the US federal systems, in coordination with the US embassy in the UAE and UAE embassy in the US. It is also designed to exchange expertise, knowledge and get acquaintance with the best practices, as well as providing projects and new developmental proposals that serve Dubai and its government.
Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme, said the kind gesture of Shaikh Hamdan holds a developmental dimension.
"The programme is not mere evaluation and winning. The kind gesture of Shaikh Hamdan instills confidence in the capabilities of those employees," he said.
Earlier, the Ambassadors of Excellence held discussions with the chairmen of the ad-hoc committees of the Dubai Executive Council and Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander in-Chief of Dubai Police in his capacity as Chairman of the Security and Justice committee, an affiliate of Dubai Executive Council, the role and duties of the panel.
They also discussed a number of issues including risk-management and sustainable development.
They also met Major-General Mohammed Al Mirri, Director-General of Naturalisation and Residency Department in Dubai, who is also the Chairman of the Social Development Sector's Committee; and Hussein Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, who is also head of Health and safety Committee.
The ambassadors also held discussions with Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Head of the Infrastructure and Environment Committee and CEO of Dubai Electricity and water Authority DEWA.After the visit, the ambassadors of excellence will prepare a report on proposals and the developmental projects which can be applied in Dubai.
