Jordan- Arab Potash Co. signs accord with Jordan Society for Sustainable Development 

(MENAFN - Jordan Times) The Arab Potash Company (APC) signed last week a collaboration agreement with the Jordan Society for Sustainable Development. Rod McEachern, deputy general manager for technical affairs, and Mungeth Mehyar, vice president of JSSD, attended the signing ceremony.

APC will provide complete financial support to a number of projects focused on supporting local community development and recycling programmes in the southern Jordan Valley. An example of these efforts includes the founding of a job training workshop, as well as a women's rehabilitation centre where soap is produced using recycled vegetable oil. The centre also trains women on how to use recycled paper to produce gift boxes.

The APC support provided to these project amount to JD40,000 over one year.

This funding will cover the cost of all necessary supplies and materials for the recycling processes, paying for professional instructors, and providing modest stipends to the trainees during the course of the project. McEachern said: "Our support for the JSSD and its work in the southern Ghor area is just a part of our continuing efforts to promote Jordan as an adherent to international standards in the field of environmental protection and sustainability."
