(MENAFN) Zain Saudi's chief executive, Saad Al-Barak, said that by the year 2015, the telecommunication company would plan to have around 15 million subscribers, reported Arab News.

Al-Barak added that the company surpassed other competing firms in the region, where the number of its subscribers reached 9 million as of the end of last month.

He also said that the company agreed to sell its quarter stake in Zain Saudi to joint bidders Bahrain Telecommunications Co. (Batelco) and the two firms would meet within days in order to open the company's books for evaluations.

It is worth noting that by the end of last year, Zain's share of the Saudi mobile market dropped to 16 percent from 18 percent in 2009, ranking it at third place after Saudi Telecom Co. and Mobily, an affiliate of Etisalat, the UAE's telecommunication firm.
