(MENAFN - The Peninsula) The Third World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists set to open here tomorrow will bring together high-profile philanthropists, government and business leaders; and visionaries from around the world.

The annual event will focus on how the integrated efforts of philanthropic, public and private sectors can effectively respond to the worsening global issues of hunger, poverty, disease, and most importantly violence. Renowned philanthropists, foundation executives, business and government leaders, and industry experts from around the world will speak on range of topics, vital to promote strategic partnership necessary for effectively change.

Among the high-profile delegates who have confirmed their participation at the event include Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and prime minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai; Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani, Member of Supreme Education Council (SEC) and Chair of World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists,; Sheikh Saudi bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prinice and Deputy Ruler of Ras al Khaimah, UAE; HE Ahmad Abdullah Al Mari, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Qatar; Princess Banderi Abdul Rahman Al Faisal, Director General, King Khalid Foundation, Saudi Arabia; Senator John Kerry, Chair of Foreign Relations Committee, US Senate' Sara Ferguson, Duchess of York; Shahid Malik, Minister of Communities & Local Government, UK and Vice Chair of World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists and John Sexton, President of New York University.

The Congress would focus on the urgency of investing in smallholder farmers and landless agricultural labourers-who together make up 80 per cent of the world's billion hungry people. The meet would also include sessions on the radicalization of youth and how Muslim philanthropy can develop partnerships to address the issue and create solutions in an effort to alleviate conflict and violence. Discussions will focus on how to prevent young men from joining the insurgencies, and propagate true religious teachings, develop regular income opportunities, and offer a sense of empowerment and identity that modern insurgencies often provide.

The meet will also address efforts to develop paths to creating a Muslim Knowledge Ecosystem that drives technological change and provides solutions to accelerate development in the Muslim world. The meet would also host an Inter-religious roundtable of leaders from major global religious organizations. Findings of a research study conduced by a Palestinian community foundation will be shared at the meet.

Other highlights of the Congress include launching of a book on Global Philanthropy and signing of MoUs between the partner organizations.
