Qatar- Road from Mesaieed to Sealine to get facelift


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The accident-prone Mesaieed-Sealine road is being expanded to avert accidents. Traffic department officials hope that when the road expansion is completed with two carriageways on either side of its some 90 percent of the mishaps would be prevented. "All preparations concerning the expansion of the road linking Mesaieed town to Sealine area are over and work is slated to begin soon," a traffic department official said. The tenders are to be announced soon to invite bids from contractors to award the construction work of the additional tracks. According to Brigadier Mohammed Maarifiya, Director of Traffic Safety and Planning, two main carriageways with will be added along the 16-km road stretch which will pass through the Industrial Area in Mesaieed to curb accidents. In the middle of the road, street lights pillars will be there. And there will be radars installed to check speed. Maarifiya said that keeping in view that the road is accident-prone, the contractors will be urged to complete the road expansion work in less than a year. Studies suggest that about 90 percent of traffic accidents will be prevented on the road after the expansion work, said the official.
