Qatar Exchange breaches QR230b barrier


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The market capitalisation of Qatar Exchange breached the QR230bn barrier to touch QR231.5bn as the stocks improved yesterday after Sunday's slump. The main index of the bourse rose 82 points as well to 7,256 with 28 of the 44 listed shares gaining with eight falling and six remaining unchanged. Three of the four counters (banking, industries and services) advanced while insurance shares fell marginally (1.45 percent). There was selling pressure on retail Qatari investors whereas net buying support from foreign institutional investors was quite strong. Among the major losers were Ahli Bank, Dlala Brokerage and Qatar Insurance and Reinsurance Company, while the gainers included Qatar International Islamic Bank and Medicare Group, among others.
