 | 17 agreements to develop Moroccan universities  | |

(MENAFN - Morocco Business News) A total of 17 agreements were signed on Tuesday to develop Moroccan universities, as part of the 2009-2012 emergency program which aims at reforming the country's ailing educational system.
Given the importance of this sector, the signing ceremony of the 17 agreements, worth some MAD 12.6 billion (1.6 billion dollars), was chaired by HM King Mohammed VI.
These agreements envisage taking a number of measures to reinforce universities' infrastructures, increase their hosting capacity, upgrade their equipment, in order to improve the quality of higher education and promote scientific research.
The envisaged reforms are expected to reinforce universities' autonomy and professionalism, and boost their efforts in terms of scientific research. One of the agreements provides for the creation of a higher education research center in the Rabat region.
