(MENAFN - Times of Oman) Private sector establishments have employed 5,036 nationals — 4,238 males and 798 females — during July this year, the Sultanate's Manpower Ministry said yesterday.

Of these, 4,888 were appointed during the month, the ministry said.

"The number of degree holders employed in the private sector stood at 186, holders of diploma at 158 and Secondary School Certificate at 1,822," Deputy Director-General of Employment at the Manpower Ministry Mudhafar bin Said Al Wahaibi said.

While 1,637 Omanis were employed in the construction sector, 1,337 entered the trade sector, 540 in various industries, 486 in property segment, 342 in oil and gas sector and 334 in travel, tourism and services sector, Al Wahaibi said.

'Plenty of jobs'

"Plenty of jobs are available at the Manpower Ministry in economic as well as service sectors. Young Omanis who wish to take up jobs may approach the labour offices across the governorates and register their names," Al Wahaibi said.

Officials also commended cooperation among the private sector companies with the Manpower Ministry in availing opportunities for Omani youths in various sectors.
