(MENAFN - The Peninsula) Qatari stocks fell yesterday marginally despite buying support from Qatari retail as well as foreign retail and institutional investors.

The 20-share benchmark index of the Doha Securities Market (DSM) declined 51 points, or 0.99 per cent, to 5,090 with the market capitalization figures slumping proportionately breaching the QR220bn-mark to QR219.14bn.

Except for the insurance counters which showed a marginal gain of 0.76 percent, all the three other sectors took a beating. The lenders' counters fell 1.22 percent while the industrial stocks were down 1.43 percent.

At least 21 stocks fell at the close of yesterday's trading and among them were Qatar-German Medical Devices Company, Ezdan, Zad, and Qatar Cinema. Among the gainers were Qatar Technical Inspection Company, Gulf International and Islamic Financial Securities.
