(MENAFN - Times of Oman) The MSM-30 index rose 0.54 per cent to close at 4,677 points yesterday. Volume, in terms of number of shares, declined by 30.1 per cent to 11.010 million shares against the previous day's 15.746 million shares.
Trading value increased by 8.4 per cent from RO4.065 million to RO4.406 million. Foreigners were net sellers yesterday. They sold 8.1 per cent (RO0.36 million) in the total turnover.
The market was weak with 14 advances and 16 declines out of 45 traded securities. Among the sectors, the industry sector was the only gainer yesterday which closed 0.97 per cent higher. However, Service and Insurance sector and Banking & Investment sector closed lower 0.11 per cent and 0.02 per cent per cent, respectively.
The top two gainers were: Sweets of Oman (10 per cent) and Bank Muscat (6.58 per cent) both closed at RO1.100 and RO0.502, respectively. The top two losers were: Gulf Mushroom (-10 per cent) and Dhofar Insurance (-5.46 per cent) both closed at RO0.333 and RO0.260 respectively. The top two by volume traded were: BankMuscat (2.5 million shares) and Oman Cement (1.5 million shares). The top two by value traded were: BankMuscat (RO 1.27 million) and Oman Cables Industry (RO 0.56 million).
