(MENAFN - Times of Oman) The MSM-30 index declined 1.64 per cent to close at 5,289 points yesterday. Trading volume in terms of number of shares traded declined by 3.5 per cent to 3.060m shares against the previous day's 3.169m shares. Volume in terms of value decreased by 28.1 per cent, from RO1.789m to RO1.286m.
Foreigners continued to be net buyers for the sixth day. Their net buying rose 10.7 per cent (RO0.14m) as against Monday. The market breadth was week with 25 declines and three advances out of 36 traded securities.
The industry sector was the biggest loser and closed lower 2.76 per cent to 4,159 points. The Banking & Investment sector closed lower 1.93 per cent per cent to 6,271 and the Service and Insurance sector closed lower by 0.86 per cent to 2,483 points.
The top two gainers were: Voltamp Energy (2.16 per cent) and Oman Oil Marketing (0.54 per cent) to close at RO0.473 and RO1.111, respectively. The top two losers were: Jazeera Steel Products (-9.26 per cent) and Transgulf Holding (-8.57 per cent) closed at RO0.196 and RO 0.064.
The top two by volume traded were: BankMuscat (0.29m shares) and Oman Flour Mills (0.27m shares). The top two by value traded were: BankMuscat (RO 0.22m) and Omantel (RO 0.16m).
