(MENAFN - Times of Oman) Share prices closed slightly up on the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) yesterday. The benchmark MSM-30 index rose 0.35 per cent to close at 5,462 points. The market traded 2.3m shares worth of RO1.3m. Nearly 5.1 shares worth RO2.5m changed hands. Foreigners were net buyers yesterday with 25.8 per cent (RO0.33m) share in the total turnover.
Amongst the sectors, industry sector and Services & Insurance sector, posted a loss of 0.50 per cent and 0.13 per cent, respectively. However, Banking & Investments sector posted a gain of 1.24 per cent.
The top two gainers were: Global Investment (5.15 per cent) and Al Sharqia Investment (4.8 per cent), closing at RO0.143 and RO0.131 respectively. The top two losers were: Al Jazeera Steel Product (-8.68 per cent) and Oman & Emirates Investment (-5.31 per cent), closing at RO 0.221 and RO0.107 respectively. The top two by volume traded were: Renaissance Services (0.38m shares) and BankMuscat (0.29m shares).
The top two by value traded were: Renaissance Services (RO0.23m) and Bank Muscat (RO 0.23m). NAV as of January 2009: Oryx Fund-RO1.166, Muscat Fund-RO1.174 and Bank Muscat MSCI Kuwait Fund: (January 5, 2008) 0.6119.
