Oman- Equities close lower as trading resumes


(MENAFN- Times of Oman) The MSM-30 index decreased slightly by 0.67 per cent to close at 6,097 points as the Muscat Securities Market opened for trading after Eid Al Adha holidays. The turnover and number of shares traded increased by 56.4 per cent and 21 per cent, respectively, as compared to the last trading day prior to Eid holidays. The market breadth was weak with 17 declines and 8 advances out of 38 traded securities. The Banking & Investment sector was the biggest loser and closed lower 1.15 percent to 7,262 points. The Service and Insurance sector closed lower 0.52 per cent percent to 2,822. However, the industry sector increased by 0.34 per cent percent to 5,320 points. The top two gainers were: AES Barka (3.55 per cent) and Oman Cables Industry (2.32 per cent). The top two losers were: Al Maha Petroleum (-9.15 per cent) and Oman Fisheries (-5.21 per cent). The top two by volume traded were: Renaissance Services (0.46m shares) and Al Anwar Holding (0.31m shares). The top two by value traded were: Renaissance Services (RO0.37m) and Raysut Cement (RO0.32m).
