(MENAFN- Times of Oman) The MSM-30 index advanced right from the beginning to reach a high of 5,912 points before settling to 5,870 points, up by 0.41 per cent or 24 points from the previous day's close.
However, the total trading value increased by 11.9 per cent to RO6.264 million. The bourse traded 47 securities of which 17 closed higher and 20 closed lower.
Amongst sectors, Banks and Investment Index moved up by 0.41 per cent to close at 7,036 points and negate the poor performance of the other sectors. Industrials sector and Services & Insurance sector lost 1 per cent and 0.17 per cent to close at 5,124 points and 2,720 points, respectively.
The top two gainers were: Oman Fisheries (+5.68 per cent) and Construction Material Ind. (+4.26 per cent) to close at RO0.093 and R.O 0.098.
The top two losers were: Oman United Ins. (-9.43 per cent) and Ahli Bank (-8.81 per cent) to close at RO0.144 and RO0.176.
The top two by volume traded were: Bank Dhofar (1.036 million shares) and Omantel (0.964 million shares). The top two by value traded were: Omantel (RO1.548 million) and BankMuscat (RO0.572 million).
