(MENAFN - Arab News) The BMG Saudi Index witnessed a 0.2 percent decrease in yesterday's session to reach a closing level of 471.66 points. The total market turnover maintained its negative trend, registering its lowest value since May 14, 2006, depreciating by a dramatic 45 percent in turnover from Sunday's session, to reach SR870 million (232 million) versus SR1.6 billion (422 million) on Sunday.
The only gainer in yesterday's trading session was the telecommunications sector, increasing by 0.2 percent. The rest of the sectors witnessed losses. The banking and the services sectors decreased by 0.1 percent, whilst the insurance sector went down by 0.2 percent, and the industrial sector depreciated by 0.3 percent.
Seven shares went up, while 18 went down, and five stood still. The best performer was Saudi Arabia Fertilizers Co., ascending by 1.6 percent to SR227.
The worst performer was Allied Cooperative Insurance Group, falling by 4.2 percent to SR63. With regard to the index's leading shares, Al-Rajhi Bank consolidated at SR88, while Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) decreased by 0.4 percent to SR126.50, helping to bring the market lower.
