Autoliv Inc announces expansion of two Utah facilities, adding 50 new employees to the labour force

Nov 23, 2012 (Menafn - M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) --Automotive safety systems company Autoliv Inc ALV (sto:ALIVSDB) reported on Thursday the addition of a sixth USD13m processing facility at its Promontory, Utah location to meet growing demand for airbag gas generant.

The company's new facility in Promontory will add 20% more capacity to its existing global gas generant production capabilities, positioning the company to take advantage of growing worldwide demand for Autoliv airbag inflators. It houses its state-of-the-art Airbag Recovery Center for the deactivation and recycling of airbags.

In conjunction, the company is adding 33,000 sqft to its Tremonton facility, a global producer of initiators and micro gas generators for automotive safety products. This USD5m expansion plans for two new production lines, which could supply up to 30% more capacity when the space is fully utilised.

Upon completion in 2013, the two new expanded Utah facilities expect to add nearly 50 employees to the labour force, according to the company.
