AMMAN TO HAVE NEW PEDESTRIAN BRIDGES AT BUSY CROSSINGS: The municipality of the Jordanian capital, Amman, has announced plans to build six metal pedestrian bridges across the city next year to facilitate pedestrian traffic across busy streets, Jordan Times has reported. "Each year, we receive requests from hospitals, schools and other entities to build bridges so that people can cross the street easily and avoid road accidents. We are currently planning to build 25 bridges, but the municipality's budget does not allow us to construct them all at once. We only build five or six bridges a year," Mohammad Ghassan, the head of civic body's construction department. Amman currently has around 110 pedestrian bridges, according to Ghassan.
