Japan Industrial Output Rises 1.8% In October

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Japan's industrial production grew 1.8% in October from the previous month for the first rise in four months, largely helped by demand from Asian countries for parts used in smartphones, the Economy, Trade and Industry ministry said in a preliminary report issued Friday. The headline figure beat expectations for a decline of 2.0% following the 4.1% decline in September. On a yearly basis, industrial production dipped 4.3% - also beating forecasts for a fall of 8.0% after shedding 8.1% in the previous month, Japan news agency (KYODO) reported. According to the survey of production forecast in manufacturing, production is expected to decrease 0.1% in November and increase 7.5% in December. The unexpected rise came after the index of output at factories and mines logged in September the sharpest drop since March last year when a huge earthquake and tsunami hit northeastern Japan.
