Cyprus approves USD13.10b EU, IMF bailout deal

(MENAFN) The Cypriot parliament approved the USD13.10-billion bailout agreement with the Eurogroup and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), reported Xinhua News. The failure to endorse the deal would mean an impending default, according to the government. The deal was ratified by a small majority, with 29 deputies voting for the Memorandum of Understanding and related documents, while 27 voted against it. It is worth noting that demonstrators opposing the bailout deal protested outside the parliamentary building, insisting on the rejection of the Memorandum.
