Jordan- 'Libya to pay outstanding financial dues to hospitals'

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Ali Ben Jalil, Head of the Libyans Patients' Affairs Committee on Monday said Libya will pay its outstanding financial dues to Jordanian private hospitals once stability is restored in his country. At a meeting with representatives of the Jordanian Hospitals Association (JHA) and the Scope Health Insurance Management Co., Jalil did not specify when the payment will be made, but said it will be after the Libyan Public National Conference. Libya has paid around $230 million of its dues to the Kingdom's hospitals and hotels. Jalil said more than 57,900 Libyans have entered the Kingdom so far, 80 per cent of whom came for treatment, noting that 3,000 to 4,000 patients are currently receiving treatment in Jordan. JHA President Zuhair Abu Faris underlined the need to set a specific timeframe to audit Libyan patients' medical bills according to a protocol signed by the hospitals and Libya. Louai Abu Obeid, Scope director general, said the company had completed auditing 40,000 bills so far, or 20 per cent of the total number of invoices.
