Ford to withdraw 11,500 2013 Escape SUVs worldwide


(MENAFN) US No.2 automaker Ford Motor is planning to withdraw 11,500 new 2013 model Ford Escape SUVs with 1.6-litre engines worldwide and warned drivers to stop driving them immediately due to a risk of engine fire, Reuters reported. Ford Escapes from the 2013 model year that have 2.0- and 2.5-litre engines are not affected the recall and fire risk. No injuries have been reported due to the issue, Ford added. Dealers were told to stop selling 2013 Ford Escape SUVs with 1.6-litre engines until repaired. It also told the dealers to bring back the ones for repair. An under-the-hood fire could happen due to an engine compartment fuel line that could split and leak fuel, the automaker explained. The Escape with the 1.6-litre engine involved in the recall and with the problem were made through July 11, Ford said.
