Pakistan Day being celebrated with national zeal

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Pakistan Day is being celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and rest of the country with traditional fervour and zeal.

The day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in each provincial capital. Special prayers were offered for solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan after Fajr prayers. The government has already announced publication holiday on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

Personnel from all the armed forces of the country are present in the Parade Ground Islamabad for the Pakistan Day parade. Guests from Pakistan's allies, including Turkey, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, China, Jordan and Malaysia, were also in attendance on the occasion, while Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena was the chief guest.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure security on the Pakistan Day in Islamabad and mobile service will also remain suspended.

An award ceremony was also on the agenda, to be held at Aiwan-e-Sadar, where the president will be conferring awards to various personalities on their contribution to different fields. Seminars, rallies, and ceremonies have been arranged by the government and private organisations.

Pakistan Day is being celebrated every year in Pakistan to commemorate the Lahore Resolution passed on 23 March, 1940. The day celebrates the adoption of the Pakistan Resolution by the Muslim League at the Minar-e-Pakistan (lit. Pakistan Tower) that called for establishing an independent federation comprising provinces with Muslim majority located in north-western and north-eastern region of British controlled territories in India (excluding autonomous princely States) on 23 March 1940.
