Saudi meets the west, boosts co-op ties with US

(MENAFN) The first state visit by the effective ruler of Saudi Arabia, the 32-year old Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the USA returns the compliment paid by President Trump.

The meetings in the US are centred around four big globally significant issues, and one small but significant one for tanker shipping.

Head of the US-Saudi Arabian Business Council Edward Burton said that Saudi Arabia signed the joint strategic vision with US President in May, and it included several agreements worth billions of dollars.

The deals were divided into two: defense and energy. He added that the business leaders in the two countries declared more than USD200 billion of commerce deals, including deals with Aramco, General Electric and Honeywell International.

The two countries have been close allies ever since the historic handshake between Franklin D Roosevelt and King Abdul Aziz in 1945, which guaranteed cheap crude oil for the US, and arms and military might in the Middle East for Saudi Arabia.
