Ex-Jordanian soldier receives death threat

(MENAFN) Ahmad Daqamseh, former Jordanian soldier has received a death threat from an unknown person using an Israeli phone number, Anadolu reported on Sunday.

After serving 20 years of a life sentence for shooting at some Israeli girls who were "mocking" him in March 1997, Daqamseh was released from prison in the Hashemite Kingdom last year.

Released after medical examinations confirmed that he is suffering from mental disorders, Daqamseh is seen as a hero by most Jordanians but he has been home since release and did not involve with any activisim.

"I received a text message written in Hebrew on WhatsApp from an unknown number," the former soldier explained to Anadolu. "I showed the message to a friend of mine and he told me that it was sent from an Israeli number. It says, 'Do not think that we have forgotten you. The time to get revenge has come close'."

Daqamseh said that he anticipated such threats to arise, as the Israelis "are trying to let me live in fear." He insisted that this would not scare him.

Details of the threat have apparently been forwarded to the Jordanian intelligence and security services.
