UAE to set up world's largest space city


(MENAFN) The world's largest space city in the United Arab Emirates at a cost of USD 136 million, will keep on track when it comes to resuming its building, Director General of UAE Space Agency, Dr. Mohammed Nasir al-Ahbabi said.

Dr. Al- Ahbabi posted on Twitter that the city is a viable prototype that can be replicated on Mars which includes specialized laboratories and research areas.

Located in Dubai Mushrif Park, last year the UAE announced plans to build the largest "Martian city" on Earth. The space city spreads over an area of 2,900,000 square feet, making it the largest space city to be built on Earth.

As part of the UAE's efforts to bring humans to Mars over the coming decades, the project is comprised in the Mars 2117 strategy was announced in February 2017 and aims to build the first human settlement on Mars.
