Poland to close its trade promotion office in Egypt

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The Polish government decided to liquidate its trade and investment promotion section at its embassy in Cairo starting from 1 February 2018, said head of the office Tomasz Przygoda.

€œ30 April is the last working day in Egypt then the office will be closed,€ added Przygoda noting, that the liquidation decision includes many other Polish trade promotional offices in the world and it does not target Egypt only.

The trade and investment promotion section is part of the Polish Embassy in Egypt and its main role is to help Polish businesses make investments, particularly in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). However, the office also provides assistance to Egyptian businesses looking to buy goods and services in Poland.

€œLiquidation of the office follows a regulation of the minister of economic development and finance issued on 21 December 2017,€ noted Przygoda.

€œA new organisation will take charge of the job after closing our office, because Polish businesses are engaging actively in the Egyptian market nowadays, but unfortunately I do not have any additional information about the new organisation,€ said Przygoda.

According to previous statistics from the office, the annual average of bilateral trade between Egypt and Poland recorded around $500m. The Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry said there are 93 Polish companies working in the local market.
