Astana to host event on Afghan women in autumn

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Astana plans to host an international conference in autumn on women€™s empowerment in Afghanistan, says Kazakhstan€™s Special Envoy Stanislav Vassilenko.

Continued support from regional countries and the international community was needed to deal with political and economic challenges, as well as security threats, in Afghanistan, the diplomat said.

In a statement from the Foreign Ministry in Astana, the ambassador said women and youth occupied a central position in conflict-prevention initiatives.

Kazakhstan would continue the education programme for Afghan citizens with co-financing from the European Union and other partners, he promised.

€œWithin the framework of our $50 million educational program, about 1,000 Afghan citizens will study in Kazakh universities between 2010 and 2021," the ambassador added.
