Belgian trade mission to Egypt in March 2018

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) In line with the continuous efforts to foster and enhance the economic and trade relations between the Kingdom of Belgium and the Arab Republic of Egypt, a Belgian trade mission will visit Egypt from 4 to 8 March 2018. The delegation includes representatives from over 25 Belgian companies to provide assistance to Egyptian companies in exporting to Europe, as well as discuss prospects of cooperation. The delegation is looking for potential local partners to represent their companies in Egypt.

According to Haguer Magdi, trade attaché at the Embassy of Belgium in Cairo, the Trade Commission will host the delegation in order to connect the companies with their Egyptian peers who are interested in the Belgian industry and its vast expertise. €œBelgium values local industries in all sizes; 85% of the Belgian economy consists of small and medium enterprises (SMEs),€ Magdi noted. In this context, the coming delegation consists of SMEs in several sectors, including but not limited to construction, consultancy, video mapping projection, healthcare, furniture, banking and insurance, flooring, packaging, printing, energy and electricity, automotive, and satellite navigation. Magdi further added, €œAlthough most companies are new to the Egyptian market, others have already been trading with Egypt for years with a value of ‚¬150m.€

The delegation will meet with Egyptian private and public sectors, in addition to visiting the New Administrative Capital in order to explore promising opportunities where they can export their products and exchange Belgian-Egyptian experiences in construction and development.

It is worth noting that the first meeting of this nature was held in 2008, in the presence of then-prince Philippe, the current king of Belgium, along with 100 Belgian companies. Since then, the meeting has been held every two years with a variety of different companies.
