8 ALP personnel killed, 3 wounded in Ghazni attack


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Eight Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel manning a check-post have been killed and three others wounded in a Taliban attack in the Deh Yak district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Thursday.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor€™s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked ALP check-post in Rabat locality late on Wednesday night. Eight policemen were killed and three others injured.

He said the assailants also suffered casualties, but he was unaware of exact numbers. Meanwhile, resident Noorullah confirmed the attack that continued for a few hours. He claimed the insurgents controlled the district for some time.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, claimed nine security personnel had been killed and one captured alive as a result of the assault. The rebels, who suffered no casualties, captured some weapons and ammunitions, he said.
