No one has right to oppose e-NICs launch: Gen. Raziq

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Kandahar police chief Gen. Abdul Raziq said on Saturday that no individual or party has any right to oppose the distribution of electronic National Identity Cards (e-NICs).

The police chief for the southern province told Pajhwok Afghan News that he would sand against those planning to disturb the national process.

He added all relevant technical process of the ID card project had been done and no constitutional hurdle left to justify the delay in launching the process.

€œNo one has the right to take political benefit from the process€, Raziq said. €œThose who do not count themselves as Afghans should leave the country.€

He urged the government to start distribution of e-NICs as soon as possible and said he would stand against elements creating problems in this regard.

Some high officials have already registered their names in the biometric process and it is said the distribution of e-NICs would begin soon.

But the Chief Executive Office has called for a delay in launching the issuance of electronic ID cards.

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah had said the e-NICs were a national issue and should be launched with national consensus.

However, President Ashraf Ghani has assured e-NICs distribution would start soon.
