DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange's (QSE) benchmark index gained 5.53 points, or 0.06 percent, yesterday when the bourse closed trading at 8,893.27 points.
The volume of shares traded decreased to 10.28 million from 13.12 million on Wednesday and the value of shares decreased to QR216.20m from QR568.67m on Wednesday.
Out of the 45 companies listed on QSE, shares of 40 saw trading yesterday. From these, 15 companies gained, 23 closed lower and two remained unchanged.
Indices of five sectors ended in red and two sectors ended in green yesterday. QSE Total Return Index gained 0.06 percent to 14,913.49 points and QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index increased 0.16 percent to 3,561.06 points. QSE All Share Index lost from 0.41 percent to 2,467.54 points, reports QNA.
When compared on daily basis, the QSE index lost 313.74 points, or 3.41 percent, last week compared to previous week's closing. Trading value during last week increased by 32.72 percent to reach QR1.28bn compared to QR969.04m.
Trading volume increased by 38.85 percent to reach 51.78 million shares, as against 37.29 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 31.77 percent, to reach 22,273 transactions as compared to 16,903 transactions.
Market cap fell by 4.79 percent to reach QR477.76bn as compared to QR501.80bn at the end of previous week.
Banking and financial services sector led traded value last week with 42.98 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 17.76 percent. Real estate sector accounted for 15.86 percent and consumer goods and services sector accounted for 9.53 percent.
Banking and financial services sector led traded volume last week with 35.64 percent of the total traded volume. Real estate sector accounted for 21.66 percent. Industries sector accounted for 17.54 percent and telecoms sector accounted 10.35 percent.
Banking and financial services sector led traded number of transactions last week with 32.37 percent of the total number of transactions. Real estate sector accounted for 20.96 percent. Industries sector accounted for 20.89 percent and telecoms sector accounted for 8.80 percent.
From the 45 listed companies seven ended last week higher, while 36 fell and two remained unchanged.
