UAE consumers lose USD1bn to cybercrime


(MENAFN) Recent statistics from Norton by Symantec found 3.72 million UAE consumers in 2017 to have lost roughly $1.05 billion to cybercrime.

The UAE's grown-up online users were made of 52% who went head to head with cybercrime over the past year, making average losses to have been $182 per person.

The Norton spokesperson on the Norton Cyber Security Insights Report, Haider Pasha stated "people have a strong belief in their ability to protect themselves, when in fact the opposite is true."

He explained "there's a false sense of security that people have that if they haven't been a victim, they believe they themselves have been protected."
