Doha: A Saudi official has launched a scathing and defamatory attack on a Kuwait Minister after he visited Qatar and met with the Emir.

Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and Advisor in the Saudi Royal Court, used Twitter to went out his frustration against Kuwait Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khalid Nasser Al-Roudan after his meeting with the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha yesterday.

Al Sheikh wrote in his tweet: (auto-translated from Arabic) "Al-Roudan, in short, is mercenaries under the umbrella of positions and against proven facts. This mercenary will not harm Saudi Arabia's historical relations with its sister Kuwait, and what he said represents himself only, as Modar poet said: If you want to know the souls, toss them money'

Al Sheikh's defamatory tweet came after the Kuwaiti Minister Khalid Al-Roudhan thanked the Emir of Qatar for his support and contribution to lifting FIFA's suspension of Kuwait Football Association last month. The delegation headed by the minister also thanked Qatar for agreeing to move the 23rd Gulf Cup to Kuwait.

The tweet, which was in a bad taste, shows the current social media climate in the countries, which is blockading Qatar, where many officials and media analysts are using foul language and fake news to defame other Gulf countries.

Recently a US-based firm admitted, in the filing before the authorities, that they were paid by UAE government to spread the anti-Qatar news on social media.

Kuwaiti social media users were seen expressing their anger at the Al-Sheikh Tweet targeting their minister.

'Khalid Al-Roudan is a minister and his father was a minister and his grandfather was a minister, and from a well-known wealthy family in Kuwait, before Saudi Arabia was established, and he is not a mercenary as you said, Abdullah Jahlan from Kuwait said in his tweet.
