Jeddah, Jumada I 4, 1439, Jan 21, 2018, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers on Sunday, 21 January 2018, in Jeddah at the request of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss the repercussions of the launching of a ballistic missile by the Houthi militias on Riyadh.
Adel bin Ahmad Al-Jubeir, Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation to the meeting.
During the meeting, Al-Jubeir disclosed that this emergency meeting came to take urgent action against the launching of a Iran-manufactured ballistic missile by Iran towards Riyadh by the Houthi terrorist organization. This act violates the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the United Nations and international laws and resolutions, especially the Security Council resolution 2216.
"Iranian regime still continues to smuggle weapons and missiles to the Houthi militias in Yemen with the aim of attacking the Kingdom and its people and vital interests," Al-Jubeir said, adding that the firing of Iranian ballistic missiles from Yemen exceeded 300, including 90 missiles attacked various regions of the Kingdom, including Makkah.
The minister of foreign affairs reiterated a continuation of the Iranian regime in its aggressive approach of supporting terrorism and blatant interference in the affairs of the regional countries.
For his part, OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen delivered a speech in which he thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince for hosting this meeting.
The OIC Secretary General affirmed the OIC's solidarity with the Kingdom in all measures taken by the Kingdom in protecting its security and defending its stability.
