(MENAFN) The start of a major new ground and air cross border operation has been confirmed by the Turkish Army on Saturday against the People's Protection Units (YPG) militia in Syria, in which Turkey reckons to be a terror organization.
The Turkish army has begun the new campaign operation called "Olive Branch" at 1400 GMT and was targeted against the YPG as well as ISIS militants.
The operation would be carried out "with respect for Syria's territorial integrity", the army said, and stemmed from Turkey's rights under international law.
