DHS bans Haitians from low-skilled work visa application

(MENAFN) Reuters reported the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to have taken out Haiti from a list that allows citizens of some countries to apply for low-skilled work visas.

DHS has cited in a regulatory filing "high levels of fraud and abuse" from Haitians who use the program, it also cited a "high rate of overstaying the terms" from the visa recipients.

The decision came after a 2017 DHS report showed about 40% visa overstays among Haitians in 2016.
