Australia drone rescues two underage swimmers

(MENAFN) A new lifesaving drone has saved two Australian boys aged 15-17 from drowning off the coast of Lennox Head, New South Wales (NSW).

The underage swimmers were seen resisting heavy waves about 700m offshore before lifeguards immediately sent the drone to drop an inflatable rescue pod.

The rescue effort has received admiration from the state's deputy premier John Barilaro as he said "never before has a drone fitted with a flotation device been used to rescue swimmers like this."

Lifeguard supervisor Jai Sheridan also praised the drone saying "the Little Ripper UAV certainly proved itself today, it is an amazingly efficient piece of lifesaving equipment and a delight to fly."
