Fath Al Kheir lands back amid surging waves of patriotism


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Fath Al Kheir 3 dhow was received at Katara the Cultural Village Foundation on Sunday in the spirit of patriotism and brotherhood and to mark the occasion of Qatar National Day.

A special ceremony, titled Al Gaffal, was held to celebrate the arrival of the dhow. Maritime songs, the Qatari Ardha performance and floral decorations on the Katara beach were among the highlights of the ceremony.
The Al Gaffal ceremony was graced by HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani and Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti. The dhow returned from voyages to Kuwait and Oman after having left Katara's shores last month.

Paratroopers regale the audience at Katara

Meanwhile, visitors have been in for a treat as some 60 special events are lined up as part of the National Day festivities, offering entertainment options for every age group, Katara has said in a press statement. The scheduled events included a paratrooper show by the Joint Special Forces and a ‘drone show' at the Katara Esplanade, while the Qatari flag was seen flying high at Katara's Amphitheatre during a show by the renowned troupe, Faenza Ravenna.
On the sidelines of Katara's National Day celebrations, Ahmed Abdul Rahman al-Sayed, deputy general manager and head of Operations at the Cultural Village Foundation, inaugurated an exhibition by artist Ahmed al-Maadeed in Building 18, Gallery 2, and said: "The Qatari artist, Ahmed al-Maadeed, clearly expressed his admiration towards his country and his pride in the leadership as he sent messages of belonging and loyalty with a distinctive artistic vision.
On his part, al-Maadeed was quoted as saying: "This is my first exhibition at Katara, which comprises 20 paintings that reflect the powerful leadership and the eagerness to maintain our national identity.
The artist thanked the Cultural Village Foundation and lauded it - for hosting his exhibition, hoping that visitors would enjoy his artworks.
Katara will host National Day activities until Tuesday.
